SALINAS, Calif. — A moderate earthquake has rattled a coastal area of central California with hundreds of residents reporting feeling the temblor.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 5.3 quake struck shortly before midnight Saturday.
It was centered near King City, about 40 miles southeast of Salinas. USGS geophysicist Amy Vaughan says more than 1,500 people reported on the agency’s website that they felt the temblor.
